Music for Commercials

Berend has provided music and sound design for artists works that have been shown in museums and galleries all over the world, notably  including Amsterdam's Stedelijk Museum, Louvre in Paris, and Foam Amsterdam. His collaboration with Dutch filmmakers Persijn Broersen and Margit Lukács has been ongoing for well over a decade. This video showcases clips from several of their works as well as from Argentinian visual artist Sebastian Diaz Morales.

Surreal/horror masterpiece from 1943 by Maya Deren & Alexander Hamid.
The film didn't have a soundtrack so Berend took a stab at it.

In the film Mastering Bambi (2011), artists Persijn Broersen and Margit Lukács have stripped the landscape of its cuddly, anthropomorphic characters. Over the course of the film, the camera pans across empty forest scenes and winter fields, accompanied by typical Disney style choir and orchestra.

Composers Berend Dubbe and Gwen Thomas were inspired by Bambi's original 1942 music score by Frank Churchill and Edward H. Plumb.
Using 3D photographic collages, Broersen & Lukács reconstruct elements of the backgrounds from the classic Disney film, now presenting an unrealistically idyllic and surreal vision of nature.
